Governor Scott Announces New Incentives for Flood-Damaged Vehicle Replacement

Governor Scott has announced additional State of Vermont incentives for individuals whose vehicles were damaged in the recent flooding events. This announcement is part of the ongoing effort to support flood-impacted residents and promote cleaner transportation options across the state. 

These incentives, similar to those offered in response to last year's flooding, aim to provide substantial financial assistance to residents looking to replace their damaged vehicles with more environmentally friendly alternatives. Here's a breakdown of the new programs:

Enhanced Vehicle Incentive Programs for 2024 Flood-Impacted Residents

Replace Your Ride Program:
- Offers up to $5,000 for scrapping a gas or diesel-powered vehicle in exchange for cleaner transportation options, including used electric vehicles.
- Includes the purchase or lease of a new or used plug-in electric vehicle or a clean transportation prepaid debit card.
- The age and drivability requirements are waived for flood-damaged vehicles.

MileageSmart Program:
- Income-eligible Vermonters can receive up to 25% (up to $5,000) towards the cost of a qualifying used high-efficiency vehicle.
- A full $5,000 incentive is available, regardless of the vehicle price.

The application forms for the New EV and Replace Your Ride incentives are being updated to include these offers. These forms are expected to be available on the Drive Electric Vermont website shortly. Participants will need to scrap their old vehicle and provide proof of flood damage, such as an insurance claim, photo, or similar documentation.
