This jump highlights an exciting shift in customer interest toward energy-efficient, eco-friendly transportation. More Vermonters than ever are looking into electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles as viable options for their next car.
This trend aligns with what's happening nationwide. According to Carvana's 3rd. Quarter EV Trends Report, consumer interest in electric vehicles rose by an impressive 226% for them when comparing year-over-year from Q3 2023 to Q3 2024. As EV technology continues to improve and more incentives become available, it's clear that the shift towards electric vehicles isn't slowing down any time soon.
In Vermont, interest in EVs is accelerating at an impressive rate. Recent reports show that EV registrations in Vermont nearly doubled over the past year, with 15,144 plug-in electric vehicles now registered across the state. Additionally, about 11.6% of all new light-duty vehicle sales in Vermont from January to June 2024 were plug-in electric vehicles. Used EVs are also gaining traction, making up about 18% of newly registered plug-in vehicles this past quarter alone. Vermont's growing EV infrastructure now includes 422 charging locations, with 80 DC Fast Chargers providing rapid charging options for drivers across the state
